What is your definition of Home Essentials?
Food, clothes and necessary supplies or more than this. Look around as many homes as you want. The list of essentials for any home these days is definitely not limited to basic necessities and contains an exhaustive list such as branded products, every corner with furniture and collection of things that are rarely being used, family members with several electronic devices and so on. Moreover, it is quite common for family members to be super active on social media resulting into losing physical connection with each other. The most common example of this is people wishing each other on social media rather than directly one-to-one and expressing the wishes on social media (for everyone to read). Imagine a husband wishing his wife on social media when this could be expressed face-to-face between both these individuals only. The biggest irony is that after accumulating unlimited products at home, a person still does not spend enough time or enjoys his/her home.
Let's meditate and familiarize ourselves with the actual meaning of Home Essentials, that is, what is really needed in our home and what should really be part of our home:
1. What to own: Reduce ownership of costlier branded products and things which have very limited usage in the house or in your life. Believe, you can survive without these products. Instead, invest in/ own:
Books - create mini library in your home, share the knowledge acquired from the books with your family members and friends, encourage each other to read more and more books, gift a new book to each other every month, schedule family reading time regularly;
Games - get together with your family members and/or invite your friends/ relatives for playing bonding games (both indoor and outdoor), schedule special weekend game sessions.

2. Connect Physically: Make a habit to connect with your family members physically or face-to-face rather than on social media. Express compliments and greetings directly to the person rather than wishing in the presence of public/ social media. Photographs and memories should be cherished with the family members rather than posting on social media and waiting for likes and comments of people. Every home/ family should have a scheduled time daily to spend few minutes with each other (for instance, during lunch or dinner time) to laugh and cheer together, to be happy and grateful no matter how their day went.

3. Make Nature part of your home: Nature should be part of every home. A small garden, plants in every corner of the home, beautiful and peaceful wallpapers to calm. Every home should include elements of nature so as to give a positive and calming feeling to the home and the people staying therein.

4. Leave all garbage out: Along with the garbage dumped in the dustbins, also throw out the mental garbage of negativity, unhealthy talks and so on outside your home. Make your home a place where only positive, spiritual and joyful talks happen. Encourage each other to talk about their goals and dreams rather than discussing about shortcomings and weaknesses in other people.

5. Celebrate: Celebrate together every day. Don't wait for any occasion or festival, celebrate and enjoy being together even though in a small manner over coffee, tea, dance, movie, cooking together, etc. Encourage every member to plan and participate; to celebrate and enjoy the precious moments together with each other.

Encourage yourself and as many people around you to start meditating on the definition of Home Essentials so as to upgrade one's lives by incorporating the essentials explained above and transform one's branded/ luxurious home into a peaceful home and ultimately a peaceful life.
