Recently we visited a restaurant named 'Saporito' which reminded me of a Japanese word 'Sapoto'. In English, it simply means 'supporting'.
Supporting others is such a wonderful expression of one's love, care and respect towards others. However, supporting others should not just be limited to lending money or necessary things when required, helping with certain tasks or chores, or simply motivating someone.
A soldier's family or friends very well accept the fact that every soldier needs to fully devote their time and attention for the country. Therefore, no expectations whatsoever are levied on such a soldier by his/her family and friends. In fact, whatever limited time they can spend together is made to the best use and without any complaints.
But if there is a family member or a friend who is doing something for the society or working hard to fulfil his/her dreams and due to which they do not have time to attend certain parties; social events; responding to you on social media or to your daily good morning messages on WhatsApp; or forgets to call to check on you or to gossip, we feel that the person has become selfish and only wants to think about himself/ herself.

Isn't it our responsibility to support others by understanding that he/she is spending hours and hours for either fulfilling his/her duties or dreams. Then, why do we expect anything from such a person and express negative reaction towards such a person just because our ego reminds us to only think of ourselves.
Sapoto or supporting others also means that we become mindful of others, appreciate the hard work and busy schedule of others (rather than being jealous of them) and express to them that they are doing wonderful work rather than complaining that they did not call you to check on you or to wish you on your birthday. When you start thinking and providing support to others in this real manner, you will also start receiving such support from others and it will surely become a wonderful society to live in for everyone.
