Start the New Year with Right Habits-1

As the holiday season begins in December with the New Year approaching, everyone starts planning celebrations for the New Year Eve and most importantly the goals and resolutions to be achieved in the New Year. As the hangover of the New Year Eve celebrations goes, the fire to set goals and resolutions also slowly goes away except for few people who with their devotion and discipline try to make their life better year after year by taking actions to fulfil their goals and resolutions.

However, research says that in order to fulfil your goals, one needs to develop the right habits. Research also proves that right habits increase the overall quality of your life. For example, exercising daily not only improves health but also has a positive impact on a person's mood, productivity, time management, mental health and so on.

"Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going."

JIM ROHN

"Your net worth to the world is usually determined by what remains after your bad habits are subtracted from your good ones."

BENJAMIN FRANKLIN

According to Dr. Frank Lipman who is a celebrity doctor, acupuncturist, alternative medicine advocate and author,

"Habits take time to develop and that is why most resolutions fail. People should aim at developing good habits, which means doing something over and over again".

He believes that those are sustainable resolutions.

Therefore, it can be very well concluded that it is not about what you do once in a while but it is more about what you do daily, consistently, and habitually that will make a difference in your life. Developing the right habits should therefore be the ultimate goal for everyone for every New Year (whether it is a new calendar year or when one is entering a new year after his/her every birthday). After developing the right habits, following them consistently is necessary for a person to not only reach his/her goals but also transform his/her life tremendously.

"We are our own potters; for our habits make us, and we make our habits."

FREDERICK LANGBRIDGE

After knowing the importance of developing habits v/s simply making resolutions or goals, encourage yourself to start the New Year with the right habits. Some life transforming habits that could be considered to be adopted are:

1. Start valuing and treating time as you value and treat money.

2. Read atleast one (1) life transformation book every year and implement the learnings in your life.

3. Spend atleast a few minutes daily to connect with God.

4. Set few hours in your routine for inspiring yourself atleast once every week.

5. Enhance daily routine activities for yourself such as exercise, meditation, solo walk, sitting in peace, practicing a sport or activity that you like and so on (if you have not fixed any daily activities for yourself, it is time to start now).

One habit which I always wanted to imbibe myself is the ability to emphatize.

Every human is struggling with the battles we know nothing about.

I don't want to judge.

And last but the most important habit I wish to develop is the feeling of Gratitude. Gratitude for every small thing.

Gratitude and Empathy are the two important habit which I feel

validates the existence of humanity.
