The Art of Balancing Life

We neither eat the same food again and again for lunch or dinner nor eat only desserts or only appetizers or only soups all the time. To balance our taste buds and the energy intake as well as to live a healthier life, we all endeavor to eat a well balanced meal on a regular basis. But how many of us endeavor to live a balanced life? Yes, an overall balanced life and not just work-life balance which is only one part of a balanced life.

Let's consider the example of a car. It not only needs petrol but it also needs many other components such as working engine, tyres, other functional parts, etc. Similarly, in order to live a balanced life, we all need to include all the required aspects in our life rather than just focusing on eating healthy food and earning money most of the time resulting in living an unsatisfied and unpleasant life. One should learn the art to create adequate balance of different components in one's life to live contently and pleasantly.

Please encourage yourself this weekend to sit back in peace and meditate on the various areas of your life. List down the areas/ emotions that you feel are missing in your life. For example, people spending their majority of every single day in routine chores may feel that their life is full of boredom and they need some humour or entertainment element to balance their life. On the other hand, people who are always full of anxiety and fear may need to balance their life with the spiritual practices such as meditation. The most crucial activities that together helps in well balancing one's life are taking physical care of oneself, exercising, rejuvenating, spending time in doing things that one likes or on one's hobbies, performing daily routine chores, giving food to one's soul, connecting with the God, socializing, working on things for which one is passionate and entertaining and inspiring oneself. However, over spending time or depriving oneself from spending enough time on any of the crucial activities also results in an unbalanced life.


Therefore, adopt the Art of Balancing Life which is simply:

1. Identifying all the necessary crucial activities in one's life to give life a combination of sweet, salty as well as spicy taste; and


2. Spending time in the correct proportion (neither too much nor too less) on each of the necessary crucial activities.
